Examination and Evaluation
Government College of Education, Jalandhar, follows a transparent, systematic, and outcome-oriented examination and evaluation system in accordance with the norms and regulations prescribed by Guru Nanak Dev University (G.N.D.U.), Amritsar.
The College offers the two-year B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes, and all examinations are conducted as per the academic calendar, ordinances, and evaluation framework laid down by the affiliating university.
1. Semester System
Both B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes operate under a four-semester system. Each semester comprises:
- Theory Courses
- Practicum & Internal Assessment Components
- School Internship (B.Ed.)
- Dissertation & Viva Voce (M.Ed.)
End-Semester Examinations are conducted by the University, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and uniformity in evaluation.
2. Internal Assessment
Internal assessment is conducted as per G.N.D.U. guidelines and forms an integral part of continuous evaluation. It includes:

3. School Internship & Practicum Evaluation (B.Ed.)
The B.Ed. programme includes a structured School Internship Programme where students:

Evaluation is carried out jointly through:
- Internal assessment by teacher educators

4. Dissertation & Viva Voce (M.Ed.)
For M.Ed. students, dissertation work is a significant component of evaluation. The process includes:

- Viva Voce examination conducted by university-appointed examiners
